drops of Jupiter burning like snow
pieces of Mars shattered in her
eyes : premeditated loss
black hole silence traps the words
I had chosen to welcome her
home : inconsequential pain
like inadvertently ripping an artery
but finding out you can no longer
bleed.
you want a bandage anyway.
atmospheric breach--
disturbance in the stratosphere
screams of falling stars riding her
lips : metal paralysis
comet trails warp to static the
satellite broadcasts of her
mind : insubstantial fear
like discover that monsters live
in many places beyond your
head
you are always afraid of the dark.
atmospheric breach--
crash landing on a battered rocket
Venus tatooed in ochre through her
skin : seduction of death
asteroid fields breed uncertainty
smashing me to cosmic dust with her
pulse : frequency of life
like building a radio out of tinfoil
and standing in the rain trying to broadcast
God.
you know there's no reception
but you turn the dial anyway.

streaks of space left in her hair
map of my past traced through her
thoughts : unconquerable soul
starseed hope supernovas into dreams
that I will again earn the right to her
smile : premeditated love
like discovering a newborn galaxy
only to lost it; but now to find her
again.
