To Forgive is to Forget
Chapter 3

Hunter

DISCLAIMER: When my plot for world domination comes into effect, I will buy Marvel comics, 20th Century Fox, and all characters attached thereto, but until then, nothing is mine, only the lame characters I make up to play with the X-Gang.

DEDICATION: With major hugs to Leylue, All Great and Powerful Wolverine Lore Protector and Guide. . . without whom, this little South African wouldn't of even have gotten this far. And to Barbara, Tyger, and whoever gets this site next. . . excellent job grrrrls.

Heather soon found Lloyd. He was waiting expectantly for her at the back of the lab room where they kept the animals.

"Why on earth did they have animals in this place?" Heather didn't ask. "Cats, along with sheep, monkeys, pigs, dogs, horses, and who knew what else they felt like hurting."

She didn't like it, but she kept her mouth shut. Hopefully, she would soon be out of here.

Lloyd was overjoyed to hear the General's acceptance.

Heather mentioned the adamantium.

"Oh, that," Lloyd said. "You were right about the Doctor. He does know where there's a source and he was just waiting for the project to be approved before he got it."

"Well you could have told me that," snapped Heather. "I almost lost it back there, but pulled it together right before Resta could tear you down. The General said that I must take some of Resta's men to get the source."

"I bet he didn't like that," Lloyd grinned.

"Hell no. I thought he would kill me then and there." Heather laughed with Lloyd.

They quickly dropped their banter as Dr. Cruin came around the corner. Heather had met him last week when Lloyd had introduced her as Captain Wallace to him. She still almost shuddered when she saw him, even now, a week later. Three long scars ran across the Doctor's face. They ran from the beginning of his hairline where the dark hair had died and turned white down his face to his neck.

No one had ever asked him where he got them or what had happened.

Heather greeted him, "Good morning, Doctor."

Lloyd coughed in mid laugh. "Ah, Doctor Cruin. Captain Wallace has just brought us good news. The project has been given the green light."

The Doctor looked at Heather and smiled, his scars moving up his face like snakes.

"Yes," Heather said, "I was questioned about your adamantium source, though. I hope you can produce it or our project is not going to go much further than this afternoon."

Heather wanted to get this entire thing over with as soon as possible. She still meant to blast her brother for getting her involved with this crazy project. "Walk in, walk out? Yeah, right. She was now even more involved than she ever intended or wanted to be."

"Oh yes, Captain," said Doctor Cruin. "I can get it, but I will need the use of some men. I haven't fully explained the method of obtaining the adamantium yet, but it should be relatively simple with the right equipment."

"Sure." Heather cut the Doctor off. She was not interested in the finer details, just the facts. "We've got the men, some of Resta's troops, but can you get us to this base where your source is located?"

"Oh, Captain, it's not a base we're after," chuckled the Doctor. "It's much more simpler that that. Just one man and our General's weapon will be on the production line. One rather special man and our problems are over."

Cruin smiled and walked away as brother and sister both stared at him.
